Assassin’s Creed 3 First Impression

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed III was released at the end of October and can be easily overlooked or skipped by the console gamer in anticipation of Call of Duty Black Ops 2. But Assassin’s Creed III is a game that will surprise and keep you playing for many hours. The combination of playing through American History and stunningly beautiful graphics are reason enough to start playing, but the game offers much more than just that.

Assassin’s Creed III is the third release in the popular Assassin’s Creed series and in previous games you play a member of the secret brotherhood of Assassins trying to defeat another secret brotherhood the Templar’s. Ubisoft takes this battle from Europe and Italy and brings it to the new land of America and intertwines the story with the American Revolution. If you have not played the previous Assassin’s Creed video games it will not be hard to get started with the newest game. The game is a first person action adventure game in which you have missions to complete which will move the game’s storyline along, but unlike other video games in which you only have one mission to complete this game is completely open to exploring and has many different side quests. Also there are many spots on the map that you can climb up and get a big picture of the city or the frontier that you are in. Normally when I play a game I don’t waste time with side quests and other optional activities but with Assassin’s Creed 3 the views are so cool that every time I can I climb up a Church or Building and get the viewpoint.

While playing the game you take part in many historical events including the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. The game adds some other challenges from previous versions and you don’t get tired of sneaking around all the time like other Assassin’s Creed games. Assassin’s Creed 3 offers cool new missions which including captaining a ship and fighting another British ship out in the open water. You can expect to get hours and hours of gameplay from Assassin’s Creed 3 just from the single player campaign. The game also includes the multiplayer mode which features over 12 modes, one of which is Domination where players hold certain points on the map. You will be able to play as the British military and the game mechanics from the single player will be carried over to the multiplayer, therefore requiring players to utilize stealth and advanced assassination techniques. Female assassins will also be included, as seen in Brotherhood and Revelations. Assassin’s Creed III also features a new co-operative multiplayer mode called ‘Wolf Pack’. The mode allows players to form teams of up to 4 people and work collectively to eliminate NPC assassination targets. There are a total of 25 sequences, or ‘waves’ to complete, with each wave increasing in difficulty

Assassin’s Creed 3 is an addictingly good video game that will keep you playing for hours on end. I suggest that anyone with a console go out and pick up Assassin’s Creed 3 not only for the entertainment value but the historical and graphical value. Not many video games can immerse the player in history and keep the player wanting to  play through the America Revolution. The also manages to stay challenging to the player and there have been several times where I have had to watch game walkthroughs to help me complete a mission but you may not need the extra help depending on what type of player you are.
